Drug Addiction and Meetings

by Anonymous

My husband is a drug addict and he goes to meetings.

Lately his meetings seem like more of a social event than recovery. He goes to a meeting from 7 to 8 and doesn't come home anywhere from 10:30 to 11. Pretty much the same for all his meetings.

I asked him about this and he got mad and said part of recovery is going out before and/or after.

Actually, as part of recovery meetings there is a lot of socialization among the members. They volunteer to help the group before the meetings, may go out for supper, and many go out as a group, after the meetings.

Socialization is encouraged.
