Please help me

Within the past year and a half I started binge drinking and smoking a lot of marijuana. I have an addictive personality and I have lost the respect of everyone I know.

I recently started taking Prozac for my depression about what I am doing to my family and friends. I need help what can I do?

It sounds like you have anxiety and the alcohol and marijuana has been taking the edge off. You’ve been prescribed Prozac and that will help to relieve stress but when you’re on Prozac, you should not be drinking. However you may not yet be addicted.

It would help you to find a therapist who can give you an alcohol/drug assessment to see your degree of substance abuse. The therapist will help you develop new coping strategies, rather than ‘self medicate’ with drugs and alcohol.

Another option is to go to AA. These groups are free and the members will welcome you and be supportive. The members will help stop the drug/alcohol use as well as relieve the pressure that you’re going through.

I hope you get the help you need.

Bev
