Abusive Relationship Continues

by Samantha
(USA)

I went from a home, where I was emotionally abused by my father, to a home with an emotionally abusive husband. I never could have realized it, but my eyes are now open. I would like to be cured, move on and live a happy life.

What am I to do?

---------------------------------------------------

As much as we don’t want to do it, it’s not uncommon to be attracted to what we know -and if you’re accustomed to being abused, you’ll put up with it.

Being aware is the start, but before you move on, discuss this with your husband. It’s possible that the two of you can work this out with couple counseling.

Should he not want to join you in counseling, get counseling for yourself. No one should live in an abusive environment and you’ll need help to improve your circumstances.
