Alcohol Addiction

by Tan
(Toronto, Ontario, Canada)

I know a girl who is dependent on alcohol.

When she wakes up she has some beer. Then when she is finished with work she has more and drinks before she goes to sleep. She wants to stop but she doesn't know how.

Her husband is also a drinker, and she believes that if she doesn’t buy it, her husband will.

How can I help them?

-------------------------------------------------

Your friend knows that she has a problem, and her husband isn’t going to make it any easier, but this should not stop her.

Tell her to go to AA meetings and to become active in the program.

These meetings are not only free, but she’ll develop a network of non-drinking friends. The members will be a good support system to make the changes that she needs to live a sober life, and it may also be the wake-up call that her husband needs to stop drinking as well.
