Alcohol Addiction

by Justine
(CALIFORNIA)

My boyfriend is a alcoholic. He is cutting down for me, But he always bugs me for 1 beer and when I let him have 1 beer he is a different person. But it can't be just one beer.

He has to bug for another. I say no and I don't know what to do anymore. Help please!!

You said it in your first line Justine -- your boyfriend is an alcoholic. You also said that he's cutting down for you, not that he 'wants' to cut down or stop drinking for himself. So what's really going on is that he wants to keep on drinking.

One drink is not enough for an alcoholic, so when he asks you for it, don't give in. If you're giving an alcoholic a drink, you're enabling him. There's more information on the site about enabling.

When you give him a drink, you're encouraging him to keep drinking and things will only get worse.

You have to stand firm!!
