Khat Adiction

by Louriza

How do I stop khat addiction? It is beginning to destroy my whole life.

My boyfriend is also doing it and we both need help urgently. But we have no money to go to rehab.

-------------------------------------------------

Khat (pronounced “cot”) is a stimulant drug derived from a bush that is native to East Africa and South Arabia. Chewing the leaves induces a stimulant effect that is similar to amphetamines.

This is a dangerous drug and when there are no resources, the situation becomes worse. If you can’t get into rehab, find out if there are AA or NA meetings in your community.

Twelve-step programs are free and available all over the world.

Another option is the internet. There are on-line meetings and forums available on the web.

Online meetings are convenient for anyone in any remote area where traditional services are unavailable.

Good luck!!

Bev
