What is a weight addict?

by Carisa

So how exactly do you know you’re addicted to something?

I'm not sure if I'm addicted to weight loss. I'm obsessed I think, but aren't we all just a bit?

------------------------------------------------------

There is a difference between thinking about weight loss and being ‘addicted’ to it.

When you have an addiction to weight loss, you not only obsess about food, but the behavior takes over your life.

You deprive yourself of enjoying meals, as well as the social situations that surround them. Like any other addiction, weight loss and the obsession eventually takes control of your life. This causes stress and anxiety, leading to binge eating and other eating disorders.

In an addiction, losing weight and obsessing about it, is a subconscious tactic to avoid other issues in the person’s life.
