My Son's addiction to alcohol

by Jeanie Smith
(Lawrenceville, Ga , Gwinnett)

My son is addicted to alcohol. In the last few years he has been in and out of jail. When he is not drinking he is a wonderful, talented individual and fun to be around. However, when he drinks he turns into a monster, angry, confrontational etc. I hate being around him. My husband has even had to obtain a restraining order against him, because he lashes out after binge drinking.

I'm at a loss as to what I can do to help him. He is back in jail yet again for doing the same thing to another person. Does tough love really work? I simply don't know what I can do to make him stop drinking.

He is 33 and thinks he can quit drinking on his own, but time and time again he has tried and ends up back in jail. I just want him to get help. He is ruining his life. Thanks for letting me share my story. Please help.
